WW2 US 105mm shell

Got this shell from a neighbour from my father years ago.
His father collected 2 of them from the battlefield just after the war in the Ardennes.
One went to an other collector and this one I got.

It is a very large shell that reads on the bottom “105 x …17 DM60” and is dated 1943.

The primer is removed, but shell is in very good condition!
Something else then the small rifle shells!!!!!

I was no ammo collector and a quick search on the internet showed that these were used with the 105mm howitzers and in Patton tanks.
