WW2 US M43 intrenching tool cover (early)

A nice early pattern M43 intrenching tool cover / carrier.
This is the early version that had the fixed double hook attachment.

The late patterns you can find, but the early types are hard to get.

This one has a kind of modification that it could be attached to British equipment.
If you remove that modification and insert a double hook again, you have a beautiful near mint early pattern M43 carrier.

Nicely marked on the inside with “Cleve, canvas 1943”.
