WW2 British jungle light weight gasmask
This is a very hard item to get these days.
You can see the second type gasmask that was used by the British forces and more specifically used by the paratroopers and commando’s.
How ever, this is the version that was developed to be used in the pacific or better said, the jungle.
This because it has the dark green coloured carrying case and normally you will find the light green versions that were used in Europe.
It is complete with mask and filter and the case also has a carrying strap.
The bag is marked on the inside of the lid with “Light III H&S 3/43”
Filter is dated 1955.
Mask is dated in the rubber with “URP 4/44” and stamped with ink “IIA Z 27/10/44”
The head plate is stamped “27 Feb. 196…”, but you can see that there is a faint wartime stamp under it.
Probably re-issued after the war.
