WW2 British slouch hat
Everybody knows the WW2 slouch hat that is used by Australian armed forces in the jungle.
How ever, this is NOT an Australian hat, but a British made WW2 slouch hat!!!!
Got this years ago from a collection in a British museum.
The museum had money problems and when I spoke to the curator it became clear that they were willing to sell some items to get some funds.
The day after I had to return before the museum would open and the curator would walk with me through the museum and I would point out the items I was interested in.
He would decide if it was something the museum was willing to let go or not!
This hat came from that collection and at the first sight I also thought it was an Australian version.
After close inspection the headband showed a British producer, broad arrow and 1944 date.
Hat is in very nice condition, but not mint!
It is made from a kind of felt and during its stay in the museum it appears that some moths had a go on it.
Never the less a very rare WW2 British hat that I never encountered again!
