WW2 U.S. sun compass

This is an item I haven’t encountered before !
It is a U.S. WW2 dated sun compass in its original case and original extra’s.
The compass is stored in a wooden box.

As far as I can tell the compass is complete with the items that have to be in the box to operate it like it suppose to be operated.
My guess is that it is still working today, because you only need the sun !

Compass it self is dated 1942.
The only thing that is missing is the manual.

On the outside of the lid there is a text pressed into the lid that reads “0.6. E. U.S.A. Sun Compass”.
Further on the wooden box also contains a 2 small cloth bags with water absorbent material, some nuts and bolts, an extra leveller and 3 type of needles that are still wrapped in its original paper.
